Westech's team have become experts in the field of bandwidth control, management and throttling of Apache-based web servers. We have created numerous custom modules which work flawlessly with Apache to cut-down the amount of bandwidth users can "drain" from your web server. This becomes extremely important when it comes to dealing with the high costs of bandwidth.
Our modules have been tested under the most extreme of circumstances and have reduced the real time costs of bandwidth by thousands of dollars per month to our customers. By controlling bandwidth we have also effectively reduced the need for more than one server for the same amount of customer-usage.
Our bandwidth modules can either limit the actual amount of traffic (bytes/sec) allowed per user. This really helps if some users are using a DSL or Cable connection with an over 4-5mb connection! The modules can also limit the amount of simultaneous connections (ie; how many browsers from 1 user at one time or from 1 ip at one time. This is extremely handy for users which share passwords in member sites. Our modules can also throttle the bandwidth, which means they can "slow-down" each connection after the first fast connection so that users say within predetermined limits.
Of course all this control depends on the usage of our server the needs your customers have, ie; are they downloading large videos, images our hundreds of small icons/images.
